Petition By Archana Kamath A Tennis Player Dismissed By Karnataka Hc As She Challenged The Selection List

A petition was filed by a table tennis player, Archana Kamath, against the decision of the Table Tennis Federation to leave her out of the team representing India in the Common Wealth Games 2022. The player contends that the decision is arbitrary and contradictory in its functions as the selection is based on the domestic tournaments. The counsel appearing for the Federation stated that the petitioners' performance in the senior national tournament was not good and hence her name was not considered The Federation also informed the court that their selection process had changed as it would be done as per the national ranking tournament and the same had been notified to all the players. Therefore, the remedy that is sought from the court to stay the final selection list should not be granted. The court held in favour of the Federation dismissing the petition on the ground that the Committee of Administrators (CoA) is chaired by two Former Chief Justice and two other eminent persons and as per the selection process the final list has been declared as this matter is in the expertise of the committee and hence, the petition has no merit consideration.
