The Punjab and Haryana High Court, in the case of Union of India v Neeraj Mor recently observed that having a single testicle will not make an individual unfit for service in the Indian Navy. The single-judge ordered a new medical examination of the respondent, to be undertaken by a Medical Board at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Command Hospital Hissar, PGIMER Chandigarh, the Army Hospital Research and Referral Institute, or any other institute. If he was judged to be medically fit, he was to be granted the benefit of his earlier selection and delegated for training. The division court ruled that the judgement pronouncing him unfit failed to show why the respondent would be unable to serve in the Indian Navy because of the genetic abnormality.
