After the recent happenings in Lakshadweep relating to the administrative decisions taken up by the new administrator Praful Khoda Patel, several writ petitions and cases were filed before the Kerala High Court regarding the issue. There are widespread protests and discontent with the policies of the Lakshadweep Administration, which included revising covid protocol related rules and procedures, bringing in the "goonda act", destroying fishermen’s huts in the name of construction works etc..

These instances have spurred proposals and considerations to move the jurisdiction of the island to Karnataka High Court. According to the law , jurisdiction of a high court can be shifted only through an act of Parliament. What happens next is yet to be known.
