Calcutta High Court dismissed plea by Jharkhand MLAs seeking to move investigation to CBI.

The three congress MLAs from Jharkhand-Irfan Ansari, Rajesh Kachchap and Naman Bixal Kongari were arrested in West Bengal's Howrah district after huge cash recovered from their vehicle. The police recovered Rs.49 lakh in cash which was intercepted on NH-16 at Ranihati in Panchla police station area. The MLAs and 2other persons including their driver were arrested after they failed to answer the police as to why they were carrying such a huge amount of cash. The state CID had later taken over investigation from the Howrah Rural Police. The arrested MLAs filed plea seeking transferring of case to CBI. The plea also demanded a stay on CID investigation in case. However, Calcutta High Court has dismissed the petition and has allowed CID to continue its probe.
