EWS category be filled at entry level irrespective of actual number of students admitted in general

A bench of Justice SK Kaul and MM Sundresh issued notice to Delhi government's Education Department.Supreme Court stayed an order by Delhi High Court directing AAP Government to try and clear backlogs of unfilled EWS seats in private schools by upcoming five years.The bench said,"Issue Notice.Counter affidavit be filled within two weeks.In the meanwhile there shall be stay of impugned order as also further proceedings".Apex court heard the appeal by Venkateshwar Global School against an order of high court.It also said that state has to step to aid EWS category students in cases where schools have not complied with requirements of admissions.High Court said that state shall ensure 25%of seats in EWS category be filled based on declared sanctioned strength at entry level of pre-school,nursery,pre-primary,KG and class-1 irrespective of actual number of students admitted in general category.Justice SK Kaul and MM Sundresh issued notices to Delhi government's Education Department in this regard to fill the unfulfilled EWS seats.
