SC didn't put stay on proceedings initiated by DelhiHC against AmrapaliGroup on Dhoni's Plea

Earlier in 2019 Mahendra Singh Dhoni knocked the dorrs of Supreme Court seeking directions to clear his pending dues by Amrapali Group that are allegedly amounting to Rs 40cr towards his services to real estate company.In 2019 apex court had granted permission to Government owned National Buildings Construction Corporation to start the process of completing two stalled Amrapali Housing projects.After six months court asked NBCC to complete unfinished housing projects and hand it over to homebuyers.Tge Court cancelled the RERA registration of Amrapali Group.Tge Supreme Court said that,'Monetary claim raised by company shall be looked into after claims of flat buyers for possession of respective apartments booked by them and statutory entities or corporation like NOIDA,GREATER NOIDA and Electricity Company are considered satisfied '.After looking at satisfaction of flat buyers Supreme Court ordered to restore electricity.The Delhi High Court had initiated arbitration proceedings against Amrapali Group on Dhoni's plea.Dgoni moved a petition filed under provisions of Arbitration and Conciliation Act for appointment of Sole Arbitrator to adjudicate disputes between the parties pertaining to a joint venture agreement in 2011.The Delhi High Court appointed former judge of the court Justice Veena Birbal as a Sole Arbitrator to adjudicate disputes between the parties.The Supreme Court took note of arbitration proceedings initiated by Delhi High Court against real estate company Amrapali Group on former Cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni's plea.However SC has not put stay on proceedings by High Court but questioned how HC can initiate proceedings when the top court is already examining the matter said lawyer ML Lahoty.As per the lawyer,the counsel representing Amrapali Group has apprised court about arbitration proceedings initiated by Delhi High Court on Dhoni's plea.According to Lahoty the apex court made it clear that it is considering the matter as it noted the money belongs to homebuyers, however did not stay the proceedings initiated by Delhi High Court.
